Bull Terrier - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - Connie -LOCAL
Description
This story is heartbreaking.. Connie came to PAWS New England on January 9th, 2008. That is right, she has waited to find a home for over 19 months and was the first dog in the history of PAWS to celebrate her one year anniversary with us :( We have thought again and again why it is that Connie has not been adopted and we just can't understand it. She is the biggest snuggle bug in the whole world and she is not content unless as much of her body is touching as much of you body as possible. She literally lives and dies for her owner's love and approval. And she makes her foster Mom double over with laughter. We assume that people are intimated by her cat chasing and difficulty with dominant dogs- but please give this little girl a chance. If you don't have other animals in your home, this is a dog that will enrich your life and bring you years of love! We have recently discovered that Connie is not "dog aggressive", but "dog-picky." She gets along famously with her foster Mom's dog, but does not like the dog that lives upstairs. Her ideal new home with have her as the only dog or have another dog who is very submissive. Aside from that- Connie is an extraordinary dog with the most amazing personality. Her foster Mom is desperately in love with her. Connie follows her everywhere around the house and is happy to do anything or go anywhere so long as it involves getting to hang out. She may be the friendliest people dog you will ever meet. Walks with Connie take forever because she has to greet each and every person with a kiss! Connie is housetrained and is doing great in the house ;) Her current foster Mom struggled for a little while, because she simply could not keep Connie confined in the crate. Here is what she had to say (it made us laugh out loud!): "Connie is much better on her own, which is good because I cannot keep her in a crate. I've had dogs that could get out of a crate before..but she baffles me. I have reinforced every side of the crate and she still gets out! (she knows when you are watching too)...So Connie stays out of the crate. She mostly is well behaved unsupervised..I KNOW she sleeps on my bed, but she's never there when I get home...and occasionally she chew something, most recently she got a hold of a book (she really likes shredding paper, which for obvious reasons I do not provide) and I came home to find hundreds of pages all over the floor. There were even some pages in Obies crate, so at least she shares." Oh, Connie! She loves to play with her toys and lay on her comfy bed. More than anything, she loves to be pet and snuggled. If you want a great companion who will love you endlessly, then Connie is your girl! If you have any questions please email this dog's adoption coordinator: kesalerno@gmail.com If you are interested in adopting or would like more information about PAWS NE, please check our website: http://www.pawsnewengland.com/ The adoption donation is $250. PAWS will take the entire adoption donation and use it towards a professional trainer with Connie and her new family. We believe strongly that Connie can get over her "dog-pickyness." This covers all pre-adoption vet costs (vaccinations, spaying/neutering, deworming, etc.) and includes their transportation up to New England. PAWS New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives. Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are located in Tennessee at our vet clinic's boarding facility or in foster care. If a dog is "local", that means he or she is at one of our foster homes in New England. Want to help a friend in need? Donations can be made by clicking the button below. Please remember these are rescued dogs, not dogs coming from a breeder or behavior academy. They may have issues that can be worked with - we do our best to determine these ahead of time. Please do not expect them to be perfect. They are not, neither are we - that's why we love them so much!!!
